CHARLES KENNY VETERINARY CLINIC
The Problem: Too many pets and not enough homes!
Dogs - one dog and all of her offspring, producing an average litter of 4, although many dogs have more that 4 puppies and more than 1 litter a year, can total over 4,000 dogs in just 7 years!
Cats - An un-spayed female cat, her un-neutered mate and all of their offspring, producing 2 litters with 2.8 surviving kittens per year, can total 11,606,077 cats in only 9 years.
So why neuter?
The Solution?
Have your own pet spayed or neutered.
Help out during Spay Week Ireland by encouraging and educating friends, family and neighbours to have their animals spayed and neutered.
Sponsor the spaying and neutering of a shelter animal.
THERE ISN'T ENOUGH HOMES FOR ALL THE PUPPIES AND KITTENS BORN EVERY YEAR IN IRELAND
EVERY DAY THOUSANDS OF UNWANTED ANIMALS ARE PUT TO SLEEP ACROSS IRELAND – PLEASE DO NOT BE PART OF THE PROBLEM.

So why neuter?
- Unfortunately there just aren't enough homes for all the puppies and kittens born each year and animal welfare shelters euthanase thousands of unwanted animals each year
- Research has shown that neutered pets are healthier and live longer.
- Mammary cancer is the most common type of cancer in the bitch (52% of all tumours) Around 50% of mammary tumours are malignant
- Early spaying of bitches, before their first season, not only prevents the development of certain cancers but also prevents a womb infection (pyometra) that is life threatening.
- Prevents testicular cancer in male dogs and dramatically decreases the development or prostrate problems
